Jesse Lynch passed away peacefully on his 53rd birthday, December 18, 2025 at the Dennis and Dors Oldorf Hospice Home in Hiawatha, IA.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, January 3, 2025 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City, IA 52240. Family will greet guests at the funeral home from 10:00am – 12:00pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Jesse was born on December 18, 1972, in Denver, CO, and spent his childhood in Cedar Rapids. Jesse was a resident at RE Schorg Manor, where he lived for the last 30 years of his life.
He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and attended Kirkwood Community College, earning an associate degree in history.
Jesse's great love for American History was evident to all who knew him. He was very active in the Civil War reenactment community, where he was a favorite among many.
Jesse Lynch will be best remembered for his unwavering positivity and strength through adversity. Despite having cerebral palsy his entire life, he was always smiling. He was especially successful in his stocking and greeting positions at Hy-Vee, where he was proud to be a valued employee.
Jesse is survived by his siblings, Stephoni Hager, Dan Lynch, and Misti McDermott, and seven nieces and nephews.
Jesse Lynch was preceded in death by his father, Larry Lynch.
