Jesse G. Daugherty, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Good News Baptist Church, 1203 Third Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Jesse was born Feb. 19, 1930, in Illinois, the son of Leonard and Edna (Wells) Daugherty. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1952-54. Jesse was united in marriage to Mary L. Daugherty on Sept. 18, 1955, in Unionville, Mo. He worked as a machine operator for Quaker Oats until his retirement in 1992. Jesse was a member of Good News Baptist Church for over 25 years, and the American Legion in Centerville, Iowa. He loved to tinker around in the garage.
Survivors include his children, Harry (Diane) Daugherty, Mark (Bobbie) Daugherty and Kevin (Susan) Daugherty; grandchildren, Karen (Matt) Beltramea, Diane (Matt) Recker, Jennifer Daugherty Lown and Amy (Josh) Fossum; two step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernie Daugherty, Vernon Daugherty and Harry Daugherty; sister, Bev Ber; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Edna Daugherty; wife, Mary Daugherty; sisters, Edith Lira and Mary Kay Blevins; and brothers, Roy Daugherty, James Daugherty and Merle Daugherty.
