Jess A. Axline, 68, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at his farm. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden with the Rev. Stephen Stepp officiating. Burial will follow at the Lowden Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Jess was born Sept. 5, 1949, to Joseph Sr. and Melva (Jayne) Axline in Anamosa, Iowa. He married Debra Wenndt on May 4, 1974, at Zion UCC in Lowden.
Jess was a lifelong farmer who loved his kids, grandkids, cows and his dog, Max. He was a workaholic, the love of Debbie's life and a generous man. Jess drove for RVH Trucking on the side and enjoyed being on the farm.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; son, Darin (Janelle) of Lowden; daughters, Angela (Dustin) Peet of Cedar Rapids and Sheila (Travis) Bowling of Maquoketa; grandchildren, Emma and Caden Axline, Tatum and Antin Peet and Jadyn and Easton Bowling; brothers, Joe Jr. of Manchester, Terry of Hiawatha and Dale of Lowden; sisters, Neta Coonradt of Solon, Marilyn Merrill of Anamosa and Patty of Cedar Rapids; special person, Jenel Wenndt; and his dog, Max.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Steve; and sisters, Judy, Diane and Lola.
