Jeske, Marie A.
Marie A. Jeske, 76, of Marion, formerly of Rock Island, Ill., passed away Friday Sept. 30, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island, Ill. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island.

Marie was born June 6, 1935, in Minocqua, Wis., to George and Florence (Gregory) Handrick. She was united in marriage to Frederick K. Jeske on Dec. 26, 1960, in Minocqua, Wis. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2009.
Marie was a business teacher for many years at Davenport Central High School and Davenport North High School, from where she retired. She also taught part time at Black Hawk College in Moline and had served on the board of education for Sacred Heart School and Alleman High School.
She was member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Rock Island, the Davenport Educational Association as well as the state and national associations and the red hat Club.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Lynn and William McArthur of Marion, Mark and Kathryn Jeske of Roselle, Ill., and Dean and Indre Jeske of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; grandchildren and spouses, Eric (Shanna), Melissa (Josh), Sarah (Josh), Amanda, Kara, Matthew, Alex and Peter; great-grandson, Caleb; three sisters Betty, Arlene and Florence; brother Glenn; and two sisters-in-law, Micki and Jan.
