Jesenovec, Ernest E.
Ernest E. Jesenovec, 59, of Hopkinton, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by family. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a parish Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. There also will be visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton. Burial: St. Paul Cemetery, Worthington. Officiating will be the Rev. John Kremer.
Ernie was born April 15, 1951, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Edmund and Magdalen (Bonert) Jesenovec. He married Wilma Borgerding on May 13, 1972, in New Vienna, Iowa. Ernie worked for the Delaware County Secondary Road Department.
He loved farming, operating heavy equipment, playing with his grandchildren, hunting and playing cards. Ernie was a 1969-1975 Iowa National Guard member.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; three children, Mary (Tim) Frake of Cascade, Amy Denniston of Hopkinton and Lisa Jesenovec (special friend Rich Lindecker) of Dubuque; four grandchildren, MiKayla Callan and Brooke Denniston of Hopkinton, Addison and Emma Frake of Cascade; three brothers, Gerald (Jane) Jesenovec of Farley, Robert Jesenovec of Worthington and David (Jane) Jesenovec of Hopkinton; brothers-in-law, Edwin Althoff of Anamosa, Irvin (Joyce) Borgerding of Dyersville, Richard (Marilyn) Borgerding and Loras (Jean) Borgerding, both of Holy Cross, and Richard Smith of Etters, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Helen Cigrand of Cedar Rapids, Jane Johnson of Harrisburg, Pa., and Carol (Tom) Beringer of Farley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Ann Althoff; sister-in-law, Donna Borgerding; brother-in-law, Dave Johnson; and mother- and father-in-law, Ben and Mary Borgerding.
Memorials are preferred in Ernie's memory.
