Jerry William Rygr, 93, of Lisbon, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, in the Lisbon Care Center. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will
be private at Davenport Memorial Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Elaine Rygr; his sister-in-law, Mary Perrin of Lisbon; and his dear and close friends, Dave Kerton of Marion and Dewane and Doris Hughes of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Rose Kopecky and Mary Sanders.
Jerry was born April 9, 1925, in Fairfax, Iowa, the son of Jerry and Anna (Pishl) Rygr. He married Elaine Alles on July 24, 1950, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Jerry was a foreman for Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids. He served in the Navy during World War II. Jerry enjoyed Iowa football, talking politics, woodworking and traveling to Branson with Elaine. Jerry was a kind and gentle soul. He helped many people quietly, never needing recognition. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
