Jerry Ann Plotz, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. A public visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required. A private family funeral service will be held Thursday, April 8, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Pastor Darran Whiting presiding. Interment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Chapel Garden.
Jerry was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Baton Rouge, La. She was the daughter of the late James and Frances (Land) Milne. She graduated from Coe College. On May 31, 1967, Jerry married the love of her life, Kenneth A. Plotz, in Panama City, Fla.
Jerry owned and operated the Dairyana Restaurant in Anamosa. Jerry loved traveling to Fort Myers Beach, Fla. She enjoyed planting flower gardens in the summer, swimming and being outside in the sun. She had an affinity for cats, especially Himalayan cats. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Her most cherished moments were spending time with her family. She was a loving caregiver to her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Jerry's memory are her husband, Kenneth A. Plotz; her daughters, Julie (Kelley) Prull and Judie (Richard) Gofton; her grandchildren, Amy Plotz, Chris Prull, Jimmie Gofton, Brad Prull, Nicholas Gofton and Maddie Prull; her great-granddaughter, Pressley Mochal; brother-in-law, Larry Plotz. All surviving family members live in the Cedar Rapids metro area. Jerry was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Barbara Plotz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Oldorf Hospice House for all the care and support they showed to Jerry and her family while she was in their care.
