He was employed by a variety of companies in his working day. While farming in the Martelle area for many years, he also owned and operated a car dealership and body shop, and he owned and operated the J & L Family Drive in Restaurant on Highway 30 in Cedar Rapids.
He enjoyed driving stock cars, weekends spent at the cabin, and wintering in Texas, however his greatest joy was spending time with his loving family.
He will be remembered as a faith-filled loving soul by his wife of nearly 70 years, Bonnie, his children, Margie (Chuck) Fensterman, Theresa (Tim) Gibbs, Lyle (Laura) Pearson, and Allen Pearson, his grandchildren, Jenny, James (Renee), Joe (Tara), Tim Jr., Bobby (Brittany), Robynn (Eric), Rachel (Levi), Mike, Justin, and Josh (Halie), his great-grandchildren Kasindra, Samantha, Brooklyn, Levi, Lydia, Austin, Mason, Henry, Lucy, Ainsley, Avery, and Anna, with two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild expected later this year; his siblings George (Rose) Pearson, Phillip Pearson, Phyllis (Gary) Husmann, and Dennis Pearson, and brothers-in-law Harry Cummins, and Burl Cummins.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Jeremy Berg, his parents, and his siblings Roy (Lois) Pearson, Priscilla Cummins, Wilda Cummins, and Roger (MaryLou) Pearson.
Jerry’s family wishes to thank the entire staff of UnityPoint Hospice for the compassionate and wonderful care he received.
