JERRY JOHNSON
Cedar Rapids
Jerry Allan Johnson, 55, of Stewartville, Minn., passed away unexpectedly in his home on May 8, 2015. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown.
Jerry is survived by his sisters, Julie Richardson of Rochester, Minn., and Jacqueline (Tim) Henry of Marion; two nephews, Joseph (Elizabeth) Richardson of Burnsville, Minn., and John Richardson of Rochester, Minn.; and two maternal aunts, Karen (David) Sifert of San Antonio, Texas, and Harriet DeBolt of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joanne Johnson and Jayne Johnson.
Jerry was born Oct. 4, 1959, in Sacramento, Calif., to John and Joyce (Garms) Johnson. He was a 1980 graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. He lived in Omaha, Neb., from 1985 to 2000, moving to Rochester, Minn., in 2000 to be closer to family. He loved his most recent job in Rochester as a detailer for Luther Park Place Motors.
Jerry took great pleasure in tinkering and fixing things. He was a great help to his sister, Julie, shoveling snow in the winter, being an all-around handy man and a loving cat sitter for her when needed.
Jerry was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, never missed an episode of "The Walking Dead," and was known to watch as many as three NFL games at one time on multiple TVs set up in his living room. He was a huge Rush and Pink Floyd fan.
Rest in peace dear brother. You will be missed.
