Jerry Eugene Meyers, 58, of Palo passed away at home after a short illness on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022. Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Deanna of Cedar Rapids; son, Eric (Courtney) Meyers and their daughter, Grace Meyers of Lowden; children, Paula (Rick) Emerson, Stephen Dighton, both of Cedar Rapids, and Wayne (Kim) Werderman of Lisbon; siblings, Cheryl Meyers of Cedar Rapids, John Meyers of Cedar Rapids, and Dave (Bobbi-Jo) Meyers of Marion; grandchildren, Ricky (Hector) McSpadden of Orlando, Fla., Nathan (Cassie) McSpadden of Dubuque, Rachael (Britton) Ballard of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Zander, Zaeden, and Zylan Ballard, Brylee and Dakota Emerson, Ashley (Kas) Kruse, Kylie and Bryce Wederman, Taylor (Logan) Ewing, Jacob and Austin Dighton; godchildren, Heather (Adam) Cullen of Marion, Michael Lee (Cara Thom) of Cedar Rapids, and Matthew Dighton of Marion; best friend, Michael (Hope) Dighton of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Merlyn and Mary Meyers; and father-in-law, Orran Ford.
Jerry was born on Jan. 9, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Merlyn and Mary (Johnson) Meyers. He attended and graduated from Metro High School in 1983. At the age of 17, Jerry went into roofing and was a roofer until he passed. He was a member of the Roofers Union 182 and was honored to have worked on the Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. On Sept. 20, 1997, Jerry married the love of his life, Deanna Ford in Cedar Rapids. They spent 28 years happily married.
Jerry was an outdoorsman; he enjoyed spending time hunting with his dogs. He loved spending time with his family, his wife Deanna, his dog Sammy, and especially his grandchildren. He was a man that would help anyone and everyone he could and will be remembered for his kind and giving spirit.
