Jerry E. Dale, 83, of Brooklyn, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, with Pastor Dorothy Banzhaf officiating. Private family burial will be at the Malcom Cemetery, Malcom. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Masks are strongly encouraged at all services. A memorial fund has been established.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Mary; four children, Terry (Richard Barry) Dale, Cherrie (Michael) Kuesel, Brad Dale and Jennifer (Jeff) Fuchs; 10 grandchildren, William (Melissa) Barry, Andrew (Kayla) Barry, Brenden (Chelsea) Kuesel, Bryce (Holly) Kuesel, Blake (Natalie) Kuesel, Brooke Kuesel, and Kaylia, Daleya, Lauryn and Jenna Fuchs; and 10 great-grandchildren, Eli, Jack and Hannah Barry, and Hallie, Hayden, Jack, Cole, Elliott, Ethan and Emersyn Kuesel. Also surviving are two brothers, Jim (Barb) Dale and Jan (Donna) Dale; a sister, Jane Fritz; and a brother-in-law, Bill Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joene Edwards; and a brother-in-law, Steve Fritz.
Jerry Elven Dale was born June 3, 1938, in Grinnell, the son of William and Evalena McIlrath Dale. Growing up showing livestock, Jerry's passion for farming began. He loved to sing, where he was selected for All-State Chorus before graduating from Brooklyn High School. Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Ford on Feb. 27, 1960. He was a 4-H leader of the Bear Creek Lively Livestock Group, where he was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame in 2012. Jerry served on the BGM School Board as a past president and was president of the Farm Service Board. Jerry loved spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's livestock and sporting events.
