JERRY DURGIN
Mount Vernon
Jerry H. Durgin, 68, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at his home. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will be held at Wilcox Cemetery in Viola, Iowa.
Jerry Henry Durgin was born on July 19, 1949, to John and Doris Allen Durgin in Anamosa, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Deborah Anderson on Aug. 30, 1969, in Cedar Rapids. Jerry was a devoted employee at Quaker Oats as an electrician for 32 years prior to retiring.
Jerry will forever be remembered for his willingness to help. He was truly a master of all trades. No matter who, what, when or where, you could always count on him. Jerry's quick-witted, ornery, but loving personality will be missed by all. He enjoyed family, hunting, fishing and everything outdoors, especially camping in Guttenberg. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed enough to have known him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Deb; children, Brent (Melissa) Durgin of Anamosa, and Cass (Ashley) Durgin and BJ Durgin, both of Lisbon; six grandchildren, Hailey, Kyle, Jake, Hank, Lacey and Kali; and many extended loving family members.
Jerry was preceded in death by his Grandma Allen; parents; and a sister, Carolyn Durgin.
