Jerry M. Crocker, 80, of Cedar Rapids died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at his home. Services with military rites: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include his wife, Mae; a son, Tracy (Crystal) of Mendota Heights, Minn.; two daughters, Holly (Bryan) Kortum of Castle Pines, Colo., and Monica (Joe) Fergus of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Romona Sommerfelt of Burlington; and eight grandchildren, Kelsey, Shane, Beckyn and Chad Crocker, Austin and Blake Kortum and Chase and Riley Fergus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Jerry was born March 10, 1935, in Colchester, Ill., the son of Francis and Clara Smith Crocker. He graduated from Burlington High School, and was a member of the state football champs in 1953, and later from the University of Iowa. He married Mae F. Thomas on May 26 1956, in Morning Sun.
Jerry was a manager at Rockwell Collins and retired from there after more than 32 years of service.
He was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, especially the football team, the Chicago Bears, Cubs and the Kennedy Cougars. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and hunting mushrooms. He proudly served in the Marines during the Korean War.
Jerry was a real family man – enjoying all the holidays and going to his children and grandchildren's activities and events.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.
