Jerrald Lee Meek was born April 13, 1979, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He died Aug. 26, 2014.
He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Gwen Meek of Cedar Rapids; his spouse, Trudy Meek of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Ceridwen Meek; one brother, Derek Meek and sister-in-law Blair of Everett, Wash.; grand-parents, Herman and Sharon Koenig of Cologne, Minn.; uncles, Allen Koenig of Cologne, Minn., and Gean Koenig of Lester Prairie, Minn.; and uncle, Tom Meek, and aunt, Donna Meek of Cedar Rapids.
Jerrald was baptized May 13 in Waconia, Minn., at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in Cedar Rapids at First Lutheran Church in 1996 and graduated from Metro High School in 1998. He attended Kirkwood Community College.
He went into the Army in 1999 and was stationed at Fort Bragg. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Kosovo and Macedonia. After an honorable discharge he was a reservist and attended Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, N.C., and met his wife, Trudy. They were married Feb. 28, 2008. He reenlisted in the Army and went back to Fort Bragg. He did three deployments to Afghanistan between 2008 and 2010. He was transferred to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colo., until his discharge in 2012.
He lived in Cedar Rapids at the time of his passing. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
