Jergens, Joanne
Joanne Jergens, a resident of Winslow House, Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Joanne was born in Oelwein, Iowa, on Nov. 21, 1938, to Harvey and Dorothy Bosshardt. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1956. Joanne was married to Bernard Jergens in 1961, they were divorced in 1976. Joanne enjoyed reading, playing games and spending as much time as possible with family.
Joanne is survived by her children, Michael Jergens (Marion), Jackie Stellern (Winfield) and Michele (Pat) Townsend (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), her grandchildren, Aaron Jergens (Webster City), Bethany Jergens, Sarah Jergens and Lily Jergens (all from Marion), Nick Stellern, Ali Stellern and Tori Stellern (all form Danville), Jake Townsend, and Brett Townsend and Sami Townsend (all from Highlands Ranch, Colo.); and finally her great-grandson, Holden Michael Jergens, son of Aaron Jergens and Jess Paterson of Webster City.
Joanne was preceded in death her parents, Harvey (1952) and Dorothy Bosshardt 1969; her aunts, Lucy (1979) and Hallie (1983) Bosshardt; and her brother, Harvey Jr. (1984)
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Jergens family though Michael Jergens (2900 Fourth St., Marion, IA 52302).
All family members wish to thank her special friend and the caring staff at Winslow House Nursing Home; who enjoyed just chatting with her and loved Joanne's frequent gifts of treats. The family would also wish to thank the Hospice staff at St. Luke's 5 East who truly made a difference by making mom's final hours peaceful and comfortable.
