Jeremy R. Downes, 30, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at his property in Ainsworth.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Nov. 30, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home. The Rev. Rodney Bluml will officiate at the service.
Surviving are his son, Jay Robert Downes, and his girlfriend and the child's mother, Catrina Rice, of Ainsworth; his parents, Lynette (Lynn) Rowan and Robert Downes, both of Anamosa; his sisters, Emily, Cedar Rapids, and Elizabeth, Anamosa; his grandparents, Sharon Moen, Harvey Miskimen and Jim and Kathleen Downes; and his great-grandmother, Carol Downes.
Jeremy Robert Downes was born Dec. 28, 1986, at St. Joseph Hospital, Phoenix, Ariz., the son of Robert and Lynette (Miskimen) Downes. Jeremy attended Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and continued his education at Kirkwood Community College. Jeremy was currently employed at Amana Refrigeration.
His passion was cars buying, selling, restoring and scrapping cars. He was working toward making a business from his passion.
