Jerald "Jerry" Mark Schulte, 79, of Norway, Iowa, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at his home. Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Ivan Nienhaus officiating followed by military honors. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will take place
at St. Michael's Cemetery, Norway, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials

Jerry was born Aug. 18, 1938, to Mathias and Pauline (Hemesath) Schulte, on the family farm in rural Norway. He graduated from Norway High School. Following school, he farmed with his family before joining the Army in 1960. On July 25, 1962, Jerry married Sandy McVay at St. Michael's Church in Norway. The couple were blessed with four children. Jerry worked as an electrician at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for 33 years, until retirement in 2000.
Jerry enjoyed being outdoors, whether gardening, bird watching, hunting or fishing, playing cards and watching Cardinals baseball and Viking football. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was invited to be a member of the Forty and Eight Veterans Honor Society and was past commander of the Norway American Legion.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandy Schulte of Norway; children, Scott (Lea) Schulte and Shane (Tracy Seboldt) Schulte, both of Norway, Sheila (David) Schulte of Kalona and Shari (Dan) Kahle of Norway; siblings, Rose Ann (Jim) Phillips, Lois (Don) Rowan, Doris (Lee Andre) Hawkins, Stella (Dean) Schulte, Herm (Mary) Schulte and Ted (Karel) Schulte; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Ester Schulte.
