Jensen-Willis, Johanna Marie
Johanna Marie Jensen-Willis, 56, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville. A time for family and friends to gather and remember this dear soul will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, concluding with words shared by the Rev. Charles Kelsey.
Johanna Marie Jensen was born Feb. 11, 1956, in Iowa City, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary (Smith) Jensen. She attended schools in Iowa City, graduating from Regina High School in 1974. She enlisted in the United States Army and traveled the world as she served her country. Returning to Iowa City from her enlistment, she has worked at the University of Iowa, Iowa City Care Center, and Iowa City Community Schools. She was very active in her son Will's activities as he was growing up, serving on the Hills Parent Community Club as volunteer coordinator, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge.
Johanna enjoyed anything associated with Snoopy and Peanuts; she loved to have anything to do with weddings, did crafts, and was a very warm blooded person with a warm heart for all!
Her family includes her son, Will of Iowa City; mother, Mary of West Liberty; siblings, Mary Cahill of Williamsburg, Benjamin (Stacie) Jensen of Macomb, Okla., Margaret Jensen of West Liberty, Alice Taylor of Montezuma, Joseph (Shirley) Jensen of Walker, George (Cindy Delaney) Jensen of Marengo, Laura (Christian) Elliott of West Liberty, Freda (Michael) Powers of Williamsburg, Charles Jensen of Oxford and Alec Jensen of Oxford; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and one of her dearest friends, Barbara Prosser and her husband, Dan, and their family all who thought of Johanna as “Grandma.”
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth C. Jensen Sr.; a brother, Kenneth C. Jensen Jr.; and brother-in-law, Bill Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory.
Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web at www.gayandciha.com.
Cremation services were provided through Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.
