Jensen, Lea L.
Lea L. Jensen, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died March 5, 2011, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Warhover of Echo Hill Presbyterian Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her children, Brian Jensen (Tamara) of Cedar Rapids and Connie Thompson (Craig) of Woodstock, Ga.; and two granddaughters, Chrissy and Lori.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Jerrie.
Lea L. Jensen was born June 29, 1923, in Gladbrook, Iowa, the daughter of John and Helen (Thaden) Delfs. She attended school in Gladbrook and later at the University of Dubuque, graduating with a bachelor's degree in science. She was united in marriage to Jerrie Jensen on Dec. 26, 1951, in Gladbrook. They were together every day until Jerrie's death in 2007. She was employed part time as a secretary with Cedar Rapids schools.
She was a member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church. Lea enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, cookies, and time spent with her family.
She will be greatly missed.
