Jensen, Dwayne L.
Dwayne L. Jensen, 76, went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2013, while vacationing in Casa Grande, Ariz. He was born Oct. 4, 1936, in Adair County, Iowa, to Harvey and Nora (Bochart) Jensen.
Dwayne married Carole Patterson on June 1, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield, Iowa, and they moved to Atlantic, Iowa, in 1960, where they raised three daughters, one son and their nephew. Carole preceded Dwayne in death in 2004. In 2005, Dwayne moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. He resided there until 2011, when he moved to Marion, Iowa.
He shared his love of the outdoors with his family through camping, boating, water skiing, snowmobiling and horseback riding. Dwayne enjoyed time relaxing on the deck with family and friends. He taught his family, through his own example, to work hard, to be of service to others and to cherish friendships. Dwayne loved spending time with his friends.
He was employed for more than 35 years at Schildberg Construction Company in Atlantic. Dwayne was a member of the United Methodist Church, he was a 50 year Mason and served as potentate of the Za-Ga- Zig Shrine and as president of the Shrine Central States, along with several other organizations within the Shrine.
Dwayne is survived by his three daughters, Tammy Mason, Cindy (Bill) Reighard and Michelle Donels; son, Shawn (Robin) Jensen; nephew, Glen Jensen; grandchildren, Eric (Lacey) Donels, Cole (Emily) Lang, Sara Mason, Autumn Jensen, Whitney (Troy) Miller, and Kayla, Holly and Cheyenne Jensen; great-grandchildren, Addison and Kylie Lang, Meryl Donels and Dallas Morgan; one brother, Don Jensen; and his special friend, Phyllis Gordon.
Also preceding Dwayne in death was Glen's wife, Pam Jensen.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, at the Anita United Methodist Church, Anita, Iowa. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church, before the service. A luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Dwayne's most cherished charitable organizations included Huntington's disease research and Shriner's Hospital for Children. Memorials may be directed to Dwayne's family, who will allocate them to charities in his memory.
Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.
