Jenny Whitson, 43, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at her home in Vinton. A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at First Christian Church in Vinton with the Rev. Dave Neas officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the family plot at Bear Creek Cemetery, rural Vinton.
Jennifer Lynne Whitson was born Sept. 27, 1973, in Vinton, the daughter of David and Diana Geiger Whitson. She grew up and attended school in Vinton, graduating in 1992. Jenny attended AIB in Cedar Falls. Jenny was a self-employed day care provider for 15 years. She was an active member of First Christian Church, serving on several boards and committees. She especially enjoyed her involvement with the church youth program. She enjoyed playing cards, baking, fishing, camping, crocheting, watching Disney movies and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her parents, Dave and Diana Whitson; her grandmothers, Oma Geiger and Hazel Whitson; daughters, Joy Beth and Kelsey Marie; sister, Jamie (Kevin) Timmerman; brother, Jeffrey Whitson; and nieces, Libbie, Hanna and Kate Timmerman.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Earl Geiger and Don Whitson.
A memorial fund has been established.
