Jennifer Renee Hillsman was born May 18, 1975, to Marvin and Peggy Hillsman in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1993. She was a medical assistant, certified as a phlebotomist, and a licensed Cosmetologist (Capri College) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a long-time member of the Webb Alumni Association Cedar Rapids Chapter. She was a long-time member of Silver Leaf Chapter #5 The Order of the Eastern Star Iowa Jurisdiction. She enjoyed getting and giving advice from her favorite spiritual leaders such as her former Pastor Damian M. Epps, Bishop Quin Heard, and Rev. Aaron McLeod. Jennifer enjoyed fooling people into believing that her cousin Linda Robinson-Hicks is her mother because they favor each other. Jennifer loved to talk on the phone, draw, listen to music, and take selfies by doing her hair and make-up. Her all-time interest was watching NBA Basketball, and her favorite team was the Golden State Warriors. She also enjoyed watching NFL Football and got teased about cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed ministering to family and friends and putting funny posts on her social media accounts. Quite often people would tell her to go to the corner, depending on the posts. Jennifer’s favorite group on social media was the Heard’s Confession, founded by Bishop Quin Heard.
Jennifer is survived by her parents, Marvin and Peggy Hillsman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Sister Petrina Hillsman Aikins of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Sister Lashonda Ford of Clarksville, Tenn.; Aunt Juanita Hillsman of Waterloo, Iowa, Aunt Darlene Crawford of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Aunt Barbara Adams of Gary, Ind., Aunt Thelma Lord of Gary, Ind.; Dorothy Jones of McKenzie, Tenn., Janice Carter of Milan, Tenn., Chris Carter of Milwaukee, Wis., God-Mother Jackie Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a host of cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her Paternal and Maternal Grandparents, uncles and aunts, and her favorite cousin Summer Hillsman.
