A memorial service for Jennifer (Kremenak) Barker will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel, Rochester, Minn. The Rev. David Byrne will officiate. A celebration of her life will continue at her home following the service at the funeral home.
Jennifer, 37, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester following a five-year battle with cancer.
Jennifer Louise Kremenak was born Oct. 13, 1976, the daughter of Denny and Tina Kremenak. Raised in Cedar Rapids, she was a graduate of Cedar Rapids Washington High School with the class of 1995. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Iowa State University and later a doctorate of pharm-acy from the University of Iowa. She married Michael F. Barker on Oct. 12, 2002, in Ames.
Jennifer worked as an inpatient pharmacist at Rochester Methodist Hospital for Mayo Clinic for five years.
She lived with pride for her children; their intelligence, the girls' gymnastics and Luke's charming character. She enjoyed reading, knitting, puzzles, comedies and a good beer.
She will be remembered for her thirst for knowledge and her quick wit. During the last years of her life, she fought her illness with courage, grace and deter-mination.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Barker, of Rochester; daughters, Ashlyn and Reese Barker, and son, Luke Barker; her parents, Denny and Tina Kremenak of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Brett (Teresa) Kremenak of Grundy Center; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Stanley and Louise Zrudsky, Joseph Kremenak and Marie Douberly.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and after the service at Mike and Jennifer Barker's home at 6184 Silver Creek Rd. NE, Rochester.
