Jennifer Ann Zebuhr was born October 14, 1989, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Raymond and Carolyn Mae (Gorsh) Gensley. She graduated from English Valleys High School in 2008 and went on to graduate from the University of Northern Iowa in 2012 with a degree in elementary education. She was a 1st grade teacher at the Lutheran Interparish School in Williamsburg and Tri-County Schools in Thornburg. On October 21, 2017, Jennifer was united in marriage to Jacob Scott Zebuhr at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Jennifer was an active member of the Hilltop Chapel in What Cheer and served as a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed road tripping in “Vinnie the Van,” shopping and thrifting. Her greatest joy was being a mommy to Josslyn. Jennifer died on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 35 years.
She is survived by her husband Jake and daughter Josslyn of Williamsburg; parents Chuck and Carolyn Gensley of Millersburg; a brother Travis (fiancé Deanna Bryant) of Williamsburg; father- and mother-in-law Scott and Kris Zebuhr of Manchester; a brother-in-law Jared (Amanda) Zebuhr of Anamosa; a niece Leah Zebuhr of Anamosa; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded by her grandparents Carroll and Doris Gorsh and Ray and Jean Gensley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Burial will follow in the Millersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, from 3:00 - 7:00 pm, at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
