Jennie L. McEowen, 61,
of Cedar Rapids, died Friday evening, Jan. 18, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass: 9 a.m. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Burial: 1 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Prairieburg. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, where a rosary begins at 6:30 p.m.
Jennie is survived by her husband, Larry; her sister, Jeannie Nolte of Marion; her brother, Andre (Lori) LaBarge of Cedar Rapids; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her best friend since childhood, Debra Larson of Moore, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Mary (Hawley) LaBarge.
Jennie was born Feb. 17, 1957, in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident. She married Larry F. McEowen on May 15, 2004, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Jennie was employed as an LPN for 36 years, working at St. Luke's Hospital and later Mercy Medical Center until her retirement. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and enjoyed reading in her spare time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Mercy, the American Cancer Society or sent to Larry McEowen, P.O. Box 2541, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406.
