Jenine Jezek, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Cedar Rapids Second Ward, officiated by Bishop Jerry Kilgore. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Jezek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six children, Heidi (Trevor) Groenjes of Omaha, Neb., Rhonda Jezek (fiance Jacob Levinsohn) of San Francisco, Calif., Kevin Jezek of Ramstein AFB, Germany, and Samuel Jezek, Drew Jezek and Sarah Jezek, all of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Jourdan, Kaelin and Evan Groenjes; and five siblings, Denis (Venita) Graybill of Meridian, Idaho, Don (Jeri Lyn) Graybill of Orem, Utah, Roy Graybill of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jerine (Doug) Smith of Eagle, Idaho, and Jan (Jeff) Hochstrasser of Nampa, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Donna Graybill; and grandson, Caleb Jezek, son of Samuel Jezek.
Jenine was born March 31, 1955, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Lloyd and Donna (Rappleye) Graybill. On Dec. 29, 1977, Jenine was united in marriage for all time and eternity to Jim Jezek. To this union, six children were born. Jenine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Cedar Rapids Second Ward in Cedar Rapids, the Rockwell Collins Concert Band and played in the Iowa Military Veterans Band as a guest performer.
Jenine enjoyed her home and family, as well as being an accomplished pianist, singer and flutist. She loved puzzles, enjoyed sewing and reading anything, especially the Scriptures. She loved Nebraska Husker football.
Jenine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
Special thank-yous: Liesl Elmer for her friendship and love. The children and young women she taught in church and Young Women's Camp over many years. Her multitude of friends over the years and miles. There are too many to name, but each of you held her in a special place in your hearts. We are forever grateful. The members of her ward for all your kindness and support during this time. The loving and compassionate care of St. Luke's Hospital, University of Iowa's Respiratory Critical Care Unit and Manor Care Health Services. Teresa Stewart and Dr. Donald Paynter for their extraordinary care of her over the years.
Memorial donations may be made in Jenine's name to the UI Foundation of the University of Iowa's Hospitals and Clinics designated for respiratory care and research.
