LEONARD JELINEK

Leonard George Jelinek, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar
Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with
burial to follow in Czech
National Cemetery.
Visitation will be an hour before services Monday at Brosh Chapel.
Leonard was born Aug. 10, 1919, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Albert and Mary (Cechova) Jelinek. Leonard was united in marriage to Georgia Mary "Munch" Pospisil on Aug. 8, 1940, in Iowa City. She died March 14, 1979. They owned a tavern in Mount Vernon and then had the "Red Dot"
Restaurant on J Street SW in Cedar Rapids. They later both worked at Rockwell Collins.
Leonard enjoyed fishing, CB radios, old cars, clocks and gambling.
Leonard is survived by three great-nephews, Charles (DeeAnn) Nejdl,
Phillip (Michelle) Nejdl and Douglas
(Brenda) Nejdl; and one great-niece, Lynne Marie Nejdl (Paul Erger).
He was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Georgia; brother, Joseph Jelinek;
sisters, Mary Jelinek Nejdl and Rose Jelinek Zvacek;
nephews, Edward Nejdl, Donald Jelinek and Leonard Nejdl; and niece, Rose Ann Jelinek Bean.
