Jelinek, Cledythe 'Kelly'
Cledythe “Kelly” Jelinek, 85, of 4124 Lexington Dr. NE, died at the Hiawatha Care Center on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Dec. 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Jonathan Offt. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be Friday, Dec. 4, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., and one hour before services Saturday at the church.
Kelly is survived by children, David Jelinek of Cedar Rapids, Jalice “Jill” Taylor of West Branch and William (Stephanie) Jelinek of Shellsburg; sister, Dorothy Combs of Edina, Minn.; and five grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Taylor, Abby, Samantha and Nathan Jelinek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; brother, Eugene Ruff; and sister, Delle Bryant.
Kelly was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Keystone, to Walter and Rosetta Ruff. She married Bill Jelinek on March 31, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa. He died in 1982. She was a secretary for Lattner Manufacturing for many years. Kelly was an avid golfer, bowler, miniaturist and cross stitcher. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Luke's Hospice or the American Heart Association.
The family would like to thank the Hiawatha Care Center, St. Luke's Hospice, and St. Luke's Four West for their recent care of Kelly.
