Jeffrey Paul Newman, 53, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Visitation: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at
the funeral home.
Survivors include his girlfriend of 18 years, Kris Spratt of Cedar Rapids; mother, Mary Newman of Cedar Rapids; brother, Terry (Patricia) Newman of Cedar Rapids; sister, Sandra (Vincent) Dabrowski of North Carolina; and nieces and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Jeffrey was born Dec. 12, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Lewis and Mary (Harrison) Newman. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1983 to 1985 as a leading seaman of 2nd Division Deck Department.
Jeffrey enjoyed fishing, camping, listening to rock music and spending time with his girlfriend, Kris.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
