Jeffrey J. Gingerich, 53, of Marion, formerly of Kalona, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at his home in Marion.
A Celebration of Life will be Friday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Cremation will take place following the service. A visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Mercy in Cedar Rapids.
Jeffrey James Gingerich was born July 17, 1964, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Walter James and Betty (Whitmire) Gingerich. He graduated from
Mid-Prairie High School in 1982 and worked in woodworking at Schlabaugh and Sons in Kalona.
Jeff enjoyed going to car races and working on cars. He was an animal lover.
Survivors include his life partner and soulmate, Kelly Kaas of Marion, and her children, Adam (Heidi) Kaas and Natalie (and son Phoenix) Kaas; his brother, Jason, and wife, Julie Gingerich of Kalona; uncle, Ed Whitmire of Kalona; aunt, Darlene Gingerich; cousins, Darla Saul and Will Gingierch; special pets: Bear Dog and kitty Ariel, and many other pets; special family friends, the Yauk family; a special friend, Kristen Matson; and his little princess, Lili.
Preceding Jeff in death were his parents, Walter James, on Dec. 4, 2001, and Betty, on July 22, 2007; his uncle, Larry Gingerich; and his cousin, Chuck Gingerich, on July 23, 2015.
The family would like to thank Jeff's home health aides, Jennifer Cass, Chanice Mercer and Dora, and his nurse, Krista, from Hospice of Mercy for their compassionate care that maintained his dignity and allowed him to stay at home with those he loved.
