Jeffery Wayne Jannings, 57, of Walcott, died from complications of a sudden heart attack on Sunday, June 18, 2017, in Genesis East Hospital, Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Fry's. Jeff will be cremated following services and burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund in his honor. Jeffery was born Dec. 31, 1959, in Davenport, the son of Richard and Bernice Kelly Jannings. He graduated from Davenport Central in 1978 and Scott Community College. On March 10, 1990, Jeff was united in marriage to Deborah Jane Bohr in Tipton. Their lives were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Kelly Jo, who is the image of the class and quality of each of her parents. Jeff was an auto mechanic through and through. He loved racing and working on cars. He was a past motocross bike racer and worked on the J.C. Dubil Racing Team. He loved the Hawkeyes, watching the Cubs and NASCAR.
Jeffery is survived by his daughter, Kelly Jo of Walcott; his mother, Bernice Jannings of Davenport; his sister, Dianna (Jeff) Fischlein of Lost Nation; nephews, Marshall (Amy) Fischlein of Lost Nation and Bryan (Kelly) Pesis and family of Battletown, Ky.; sister-in-law, Cindy (Kirk) Sissel of Tipton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deb, on May 6, 2015; and his father, Richard Jannings, on Nov. 14, 2010.
