Jeff A. Sterba, 45, of North Liberty, ended his life Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Graveside committal services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Iowa City, followed by a memorial celebration for family and friends at Pavilion 6 in Lower City Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jeff's name at Hills Bank and Trust.
Jeff was born April 30, 1970, in Iowa City, the son of Robert and Mary Lou Dalton Sterba.
Jeff was an auto mechanic for most his life and "wrenching" on cars in general was his main hobby. He began working on cars with his dad and friends and family on Hickory Street and later on Linder Road in the shop below. Jeff always had a knack and passion for working on cars. He was a lifelong resident of this area and worked as a mechanic for several different shops in and around town.
Survivors include two siblings, Dan (Meredith) Sterba of Shawnee, Kan., and Annette (Bob) Barta of Killeen, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
