Jeffrey Scott Waterman was born March 29, 1966, in Harlan, Iowa, to Dennis Waterman and Patricia Lasher. Shortly after his birth, Dennis passed away serving in Vietnam. Jeff was adopted by his stepfather, Len Butterbaugh. He attended Solon High School, graduating in 1984, then attended the University of Northern Iowa, graduating in 1990. He met Kristine Brandsmeier while at UNI shopping for a Christmas gift for his mother Kristine thought he was a keeper straightaway. They married in Waukon on Oct. 3, 1992, and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last month.
When Camden and Rylan came into their lives, Jeff dedicated his time to their activities, coaching them along the way in golf, basketball and baseball. Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes, Vikings and Cardinals, cooking and traveling. Jeff always was "all-in," and focused wholeheartedly on each task set ahead of him.
He was beloved by his family and friends, and will be sincerely missed.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, mother and grandparents.
Memorials may be directed to Jeff's family to be used for a scholarship fund in Jeff's name.
