Jedlicka, Kenneth 'Kenny J' W.
Kenneth "Kenny J" W. Jedlicka, 76, of 637 220th St., Tipton, died Aug. 8, 2009, at Mercy Iowa City from respiratory complications. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial: Woodbridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, where a rosary begins at 7 p.m. Father David Hitch will officiate.
Survivors include his wife, Twyla; daughters, Debbie (Clifford) Taylor of Mechanicsville, Dixie (Dennis) Pelzer of Tipton, Becky Gilbert of Bettendorf, Peggy (Bruce) Flockhart of Mechanicsville and Nancy (Chris) Pruess of Tipton; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Betty Lou) Jedlicka of Tipton; and four sisters, Marg Biedenbach of Mechanicsville, Dolores (Lee) Timmerman of Bennett, Carol (Mearl) Jennings of Moline, Ill., and Rita (Bob) Sissel of Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Spc. David Behrle; and brothers-in-law, James Reeve and Donald Biedenbach.
Born Jan. 31, 1933, in Johnson County, Iowa , the son of LaForest and Ruth Margaret (Murphy) Jedlicka, he married Twyla Nadine Parsons on June 25, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton. Kenny was a 1950 graduate of Tipton High School. He had a large dairy herd for many years and also was a livestock and grain farmer. He was employed as a machinst at S&C Machining, Inc. for more than 17 years. He was an U.S. Army Corporal drill instructor at Fort Leonard Wood during the Korean War.
Kenny was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, past member of Tipton Moose, member of Knights of Columbus, member and current commander of American Legion Post 123 and member of VFW Post 2537 and American Legion Post 123 Color Guard. He was an avid softball player for Family Foods slow pitch team for many years. He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin deer hunting, cutting wood and spending time with family and friends.
Memorials may be given to Mercy Iowa City Hospice Unit or Tipton VFW for repair of veterans grave markers.
