Jeannie C. Dvorsky, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 20, 2017, in her home with her loving family around her. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday at Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha, by the Rev. Mark Ressler. Burial: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from

Jeannie was born June 10, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Helen (Burke) Cushman. She attended Iowa State University, where she met the love of her life, Jim Dvorsky. She married Jim on June 22, 1963, in Cedar Rapids. During their 54 years of marriage, they were blessed with five children and 10 grandchildren. Jeannie was an accredited records technician and worked as an inpatient coder for Mercy Medical Center for approximately 23 years. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for more than 50 years and cherished her time spent with sorority sisters. She had been actively involved in the St. Jude's parish for many years and helped make its Sweet Corn Festival Country Store a success. More recently, she had become a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
She was passionate about religion and politics and enjoyed discussing both. She also loved reading, painting, Iowa State sports and the Chicago Cubs. Despite her many interests, her favorite moments were those spent with family, friends and her dog, Mac. She cared deeply for her family, children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; their five children, Rebecca (Mark) Streit of Bettendorf, David (Jan) Dvorsky of Iowa City, Kristin (Richard) Tauras of Kildeer, Ill., Heather Dvorsky of Cedar Rapids and Rick Dvorsky of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Kathleen Burns of Cedar Rapids; her brother, Jim (Cheryl) Cushman, of Omaha, Neb.; and her 10 grandchildren, Caitlin (Brad) Streit-Teplicky, Michael Streit, Sarah Dvorsky, Ashley Dvorsky, Elise Tauras, Alexandra Tauras, John Tauras, Abigail Dvorsky, Brenna Dvorsky and Tessa Dvorsky.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy and Homewatch CareGivers for their help during her final days.
Memorials may be directed to the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
