Jeannette Mathilda Tharp, 83, of Delhi, Iowa, and Wellton, Ariz., passed away at her Wellton home on Thursday, May 3, 2018.
She was born on March 18, 1935, in Delhi, Iowa, to John and Effie Pulver. She attended Delhi High School and married Henry "Bud" Haren on June 1, 1952. Five children were born of this union.
They owned and operated the Chat & Chew Café in Delhi for many years. The couple divorced and Jeannette later married Jim Tharp on May 14, 1988. They would have celebrated their 30th anniversary this year.
Jim and Jeannette spent their summers in Delhi and winters in Arizona. Jeannette enjoyed playing cards and being around family. She loved Delhi and the people in it.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Tharp; a daughter, Lynnette (Mark) Schnittjer of Delhi; two sons, Tim Haren of Manchester and Scott Haren of Indiana; three stepsons, John and David Tharp of Dubuque and Mike Tharp of Minnesota; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joeann Quint of Marion, Jackie (Charles) Hempstead of Manchester and Jerilynn Haren of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Leroy "Swede" Pulver of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra (Wayne) Burbridge; a son, "Sonny" Haren of Delhi; and two brothers, John and Olaf "Sonny" Pulver.
