Jeanne Marie Sanders of Iowa City, formerly of both North English and Keswick, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2022. She was born on Aug.15, 1943, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Lloyd and Clara Loretta Quinn Longdo of Ottumwa, Iowa. Jeanne was the third of four children. Jeanne attended Walsh High School, graduating in 1961. She met Manuel “Bud” Sanders, in 1962, and they married in 1963.
She spent her career working the night shift as an RN in the neonatal intensive care unit and the newborn nursery at the University of Iowa. She loved her job.
Jeanne was a fierce mother, looking after her children until the day she passed away and inspiring them to succeed in life and become the best people they could be.
Jeanne is survived by seven children, Lisa (Randy), Bud (Yvette), David, Lori (Emigdio), Alice (Willard), Pete (Dana) and Susan. She had 20 grandchildren and three great-children. She has one younger sister, Dorothy (Gary); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, David Longdo and Phil Longdo; her husband, Bud Sanders Jr.; and one daughter, Mary Katherine Sanders.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Waterloo, Iowa, with visitation at 10 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service. Jeanne will be interred with her husband and daughter in South English, Iowa, in a private ceremony.
