Jeanne Ann (Cowhill) Johnson, 86, of Marion, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, with her family in her presence, following a brief illness.
Jeanne was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Elmhurst, Ill., to Joseph and Lucy Cowhill. She attended New Trier High School in Willmette, Ill., and graduated with a B.A. degree in English literature from Rockford College, Class of 1951. Jeanne married Lawrence "Larry" Johnson in 1952 in Willmette. Jeanne and Larry filled their 55 years together with travel and celebrations with their family.
She was an avid reader, a 55-year member of First Presbyterian Church of Marion, swam regularly at the Marion YMCA and loved a good martini.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 27 at Lowe Park Arts and Entertainment Center, 4500 10th St., Marion. A reception will follow.
Survivors include her children, Laurie (Jonathan) Kigner of White Bear Lake, Minn., Kimberley Pins of Rockville, Md., Dale (Dave) Skorburg of Arlington, Wash., and Eric (Julie) Johnson of Marion; and six grandchildren, Tony Pins, Stacey Kigner, Maddie Pins, Ross Kigner, Brenna Johnson and Kaylie Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Johnson; and son-in-law, Kenneth Pins.
Jeanne's sharp-witted humor will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marion YMCA and the Marion Public Library Foundation for its collections.
