JEANETTE (JAN) M. DIECKMAN
Cedar Rapids
Jeanette (Jan) M. Dieckman, 84, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, after a lengthy illness.
Jan was born in Savanna, Ill., on June 15, 1933, to parents Wade and Mary Wallace Tripp. She graduated from Savanna High School in 1951. After moving to Cedar Rapids, Jan graduated from St. Luke's Methodist Hospital's School of Medical Technology in 1956 and continued her education at the University of Iowa, graduating in 1957. In 1958, Jan married Fred Dieckman. They lived in Cedar Rapids for many years, and later divorced.
After working at St. Luke's for nearly 30 years, Jan relocated to Phoenix and continued her career at Good Samaritan Hospital and later retired.
Always a fan of University of Iowa football and basketball, she was a member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association and the Valley of the Sun I Club for many years.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and a sister, Marianna.
Jan leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Robert King of Phoenix; a sister, Wadeen Dauphin of Peoria, Ariz.; a niece, Lori (Darrell) Barrett and family of Glendale, Ariz.; and her former husband, Fred Dieckman of Cedar Rapids.
There will be no services; a family remembrance will take place at a later date.
Friends are asked to remember Jan by donating to a local hospice organization or their local chapter of the Humane Society as Jan was an avid animal lover.
A special thanks from Jan's family to the kind and caring people at Desert Comfort Assisted Living Home in Phoenix.
