Jeanann Roberta Hagge Bailey, 71, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of January 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband, James Bailey, and sisters, Marcia Gertson and Sharen Peart. Born in Clinton, Iowa, on November 15, 1953, Jeanann was a woman of boundless warmth, adventurous spirit, and deep love for her family.
Jeanann’s Celebration of Life will be held January 25, 2025 from 1-4 PM at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Jeanann married the love of her life, James Bailey, on June 6, 1981, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She often shared how incredibly blessed she felt to have such a devoted husband and to be surrounded with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom she cherished. During her career, Jeanann worked for many years as an operating room technician at the University of Iowa Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, and Mercy Hospital. In her later years, she assumed the role of kitchen manager at St. Jude’s Elementary School until her retirement, a position she found very engaging. Her days were filled with a passion for life and nature, whether it was traveling the world or simply enjoying the comfort of home at the family cabin with James and her beloved barn cats—Tiger, Little Bit, and the Boy. Jeanann found joy in fossil and rock collecting, stained glass, acrylic painting, puzzles, gardening, and beekeeping. Her touch created a peaceful haven of blooms, hummingbirds, buzzing bees, painted rocks, whimsical tree faces, and colorful cabin signs. Jeanann and James handcrafted their life together to be a true reflection of their shared love for nature and joy in each other’s company.
Jeanann’s family meant the world to her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her husband, James Bailey; her sisters, Marcia (Terry) Gertson and Sharen (Jim) Peart; her daughters, Toni (Dave) Hogan and Terri Hunter; her grandchildren, Josh (Kim) Hogan, Heather (Twan) Robinson, Kasie Mesch, Kallissa Bailey-Northrup (Fritz Musser), Nicole Hogan, Samantha Northrup (Josh Harbaugh), and Katrina Hogan (Seth Werley); and her great-grandchildren, Isiah Harrington, Jeremiah Harrington, Ethan Hogan, Janey Hogan, Kamdyn Bates, Tayton Bates, Amiyah Robinson, OnnaLyn Bates, Braylea Harbaugh, Blaire Harbaugh, and Vayleigh Henry.
Jeanann joins her mother and stepfather, Virginia and Lloyd Mether; her father Robert Hagge; her grandmothers, Regina Porter and Lillian Hagge; and her beloved pets Tanner, Whisper, Sugar, and Mama’s Girl in eternal rest.
Jeanann’s presence was a breath of fresh air to all who knew and loved her. May we feel her presence in the sunbeams and hear her humming softly in the buzz of the honeybees.
