JEAN NOVAK
Swisher
Jean Novak, 77, of Swisher, Iowa, passed away at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House on July 25, 2021. A private memorial service will be held for immediate family at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre.
Born on June 4, 1944, she lived in the Des Moines area and graduated from Des Moines Tech. After getting married, she worked at Square D and Novak Heating. She loved almost all sports and rarely missed an event for her kids or grandchildren. Jean enjoyed long winter vacations in Mexico and spent many years in the Florida Keys, where she liked to read, lay by the pool and go to Tiki Hut Happy Hours with her close friends.
Her loved ones call her "Mean Jean," but that's only because it takes a tough lady to raise three boys.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Paul Novak of Swisher; three sons, Randy (Donna), Rick (Tracy) and Rob (Sarah); and one daughter, Paula (Brian), all of Cedar Rapids.
She had a lot of love for her five grandchildren, Shelby Kubik, Dylan Ironside, Jenna Novak, Maxx Novak and Gunner Novak; and one great-grandchild, Kennedy Kubik. In addition, although not a maternal child, she is survived by Mellissa Beastrom (Julie), who she always considered a family member and close friend.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Margaret Townsend; and her sister, Johnene Pameticky.
In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, who s provided exceptional care and support and compassion, www.mercycare.org/giving/donate-now/.
