Jean Ardis Mulvany, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away late Sunday evening, March 2, 2014, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Father Curt Moermond. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the funeral home. Burial: Baker Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are three children, daughter, Diane (Vince) Rausch from Williamsburg, Va., and sons, Mark Mulvany of Moline, Ill., and Kevin Mulvany of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Randy) Marquart of Augusta, Mo., Brian (Jae) Rausch of Houston, Texas, Mark Mulvany Jr. and Shawn Mulvany, both of Moline, Ill.; and several great-grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas P. and Jessie L. (Borghart) Smith; twin brothers, David T. and Darold O. Smith; husband, John V. Mulvany, who died in 1961; and companion of many years, Bud Himmel.
Jean was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Tipton, Iowa, but lived in Cedar Rapids most of her life. After Jean graduated from Wilson High School, she worked at the Iowa Theater as an usherette. She then worked in retail at Cramer's and Armstrong's. When Armstrong's closed, Jean worked at Hawkeye Movers. Jean was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and then Grace Episcopal Church.
