JEAN LUBBOCK Cedar Rapids Helena (Jean) Lubbock, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 25, 2014, in her home surrounded by her family. Surviving are her children, Mark (Vickie) Lubbock of Baton Rouge, La., Kurt (Lorry) Lubbock of Marion, Robin Lubbock of Missouri, Matt (Patti) Lubbock of Marion, Lisa (David) Bennett of Anamosa and Paul (Wilma) Lubbock of Florida; many grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her brother, August of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Don and Butch Gatto; sister, Pat Crawford; husband, Robert (Alan); and son, Eric. Jean was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of Wencil and Lillian Murphy Gatto. On May 16, 1953, Jean and Alan Lubbock were united in marriage at Immaculate Conception in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She worked as a technical library clerk for a nuclear plant. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Hawkeyes and Cyclones. Jean was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her. There will be a Celebration of Life for Jean at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, 175 34th St. NE, Cedar Rapids.
