Jean Ann Holub, 66, died on June 21, 2016. Jean Ann was born on Oct. 24, 1949, to Robert and Kathleen Hunt. She grew up in Hopkinton, Iowa, and attended Maquoketa Valley Schools. She married Lyle "Bud" Holub on Nov. 30, 1968, and they farmed in rural Monticello for many years.
Jean Ann enjoyed working with numbers and got her first job in payroll at Georgia Pacific right after high school. She handled all of the accounting for their farm operations and later began doing insurance at Sigma Eyehealth. She also sold real estate for many years. She finished her career doing insurance and billing for UnityPoint at Home Healthcare.
Jean Ann was very active in her church and will be remembered for her attitude of service and her giving nature. She enjoyed playing the accordion and spending time gardening, cooking and canning, sewing and crocheting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Robert "Bob" Hunt (father) and Emma Padgett (granddaughter). She is survived by her husband, Lyle (Bud); mother, Kathleen Hunt; brothers, Larry (Karen) Hunt and Bill (Marie) Hunt; daughters, Julie (Todd) Perrine of Fishers, Ind., Marsha (Jon) Padgett of Greenwood, Ind., Teresa Holub of Greenwood, Ind., and Zaneta (David) Evans of Fishers, Ind.; and grandchildren, Ellyana Evans and David Padgett.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS.org), Camp Courageous (CampCourageous.org) or Hawkeye Area Down Syndrome Association (HADSA.org).
Visitation will be Monday, June 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Monticello, Iowa. A private funeral service will be held on Tuesday with interment in Oakwood Cemetery.
