Jean T. Gibson, 76, of Earlville, died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Heartstone Health Campus, Bloomington, Ind. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Earlville, by the Rev. Jeffrey Dole. Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
Jean was born Nov. 29, 1940, in Earlville, the daughter of Sylvester and Dolores (Schwers) Klaren. Jean married Jackie Gibson on Jan. 24, 1959, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earlville. Jean was a tremendous cook and loved to feed people. She enjoyed gardening, canning and bird watching. She enjoyed the opportunity of traveling after retirement.
Jean was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her children, Vienna Gibson of Earlville, Rima (Ed) Ackerman of Bloomington, Wilfred "Will" (Laurie) Gibson of Earlville, and J. Arend (Chrissy) Gibson of New London, Wis.; grandchildren, Caitlin Gibson of Ames, Jordyn Gibson of Dyersville, Jessica Lundt of Decorah and Edmund Ackerman and Clark Ackerman of Bloomington; three great- grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ridgely of Manchester.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a grandson.
The family would like to thank those who cared for Jean later in life for their compassionate care.
