Jean Seehusen, 90, of 3505 English Glen Avenue, Marion, died peacefully Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House after a brief stay. Per Jean’s request there will be no service. Friends may visit with Jean’s family at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 1 to 3 pm Saturday, June 14. Inurnment at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum Corridor of Hope.
Survivors include two daughters, Gwen (Rick) Buchheim of Marion; Gayle of Cedar Rapids; and a son, Greg of Baraboo, Wisconsin. She is also survived by grandchildren, Sara Kleve (Gabe Westmont) of Waunakee, Wisconsin; Brett Buchheim of Des Moines; Andrea (Nate) Hamilton of Solon; and great-grandchildren Liam and Greta Kleve of Waunakee, Wisconsin; and Charlie, Frankie, and Tate Hamilton of Solon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene, and four brothers.
Jean was born on July 14, 1934, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of William and Lillian Bell. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and Mount Mercy and taught at All Saints, Starry, and Wilkins Elementary schools. Jean volunteered doing small claims court mediation and volunteered at Mercy Hospital. She enjoyed the arts, going to casinos, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House.
Jean’s family would like to thank Summit Point Senior Living Community and Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House for their compassionate care of Jean.
