Jean Ann (Minehart) Reid, age 92, of Marion, IA, passed away at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha on Sunday, August 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Jean was born on August 22, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was the daughter of the late Gerald and Stella (Winklemann) Minehart. On June 8, 1950, Jean married the love of her life, Llewellyn “Bernie” Reid in Cedar Rapids, IA. Jean worked for many years for the Marion Independent School System.
Those left to cherish Jean’s memory are her children, Katherine (Angelo) Carrillo, of Marion, IA, and Scott Reid, of Fletcher, NC; her grandchildren, Dennis Reid, of Kansas, Daniel Reid, of Missouri, Brian (Bobbi) Carrillo, of Marion, IA, Breana Carrillo-Klein, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Ryan (Gretchen) Reid, of Ocean Springs, MS, and Leslie (JD) Reid-Henter, of Des Moines, IA; her great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brylee, Alyssa, and Tripp. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her son David Reid.
The family would like to thank Schnika, Carmen, Madie, and LeAnn at The Views Assisted Living. Their true loving care, compassion, and help they showed Mom, and the rest of the residents they care for each day, working or not, are the true heart and soul of The Views Assisted Living and residents there. That is why these beautiful ladies have become special members of our family forever.
The family would also like to thank the entire staff at the Oldorf Hospice House for all the love and care they provided to Jean and the family members while she was their care.
