Jayne Ellen Miller, 84, of Edgewood, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015.
She was born March 24, 1931, in Edgewood, the daughter of Russell and Edna (Tyrrell) Smock. Jayne attended school in Greeley and graduated from Greeley High School.
After her graduation, Jayne was employed by Allis- Chalmers in Cedar Rapids until she met Mert. Jayne was united in marriage to Merten L. "Mert" Miller on June 15, 1958, at the Greeley Methodist Church. Together they made their home in Edgewood. Two daughters were blessed to this union. Jayne was the owner of Miller Painting in Edgewood for many years.
Jayne was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved to read and was an avid bird watcher.
Jayne enjoyed a good meal, coffee and spending time with friends. Her greatest love was her family. Mert and Jayne loved traveling together over the years, but there was nothing like being at home.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lisa (David) Kramer of Dyersville and Julie (John) Zuber of Amana; five grandchildren, Brandon Kramer, Chelsey Kramer, Robbie Kramer, Seth Lynch and William Zuber; three sisters, Eva Brecht of Walker, Audrey (Ambrose) Loecke of Edgewood and Joyce (Gary) Barnhart of Greeley; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Smock of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Mary Smock of Edgewood; and many nieces and nephews.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mert, on Oct. 19, 2009; three brothers, Ronald "Bud" Smock, Val Smock and Rick Smock; one sister, Lois Kruger; two brothers-in-law, George Brecht and Burton Kruger; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Smock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood, by Pastor Mike Jackson. Interment: Edgewood Cemetery, Edgewood.
