Jay Winders, 53, died Thursday, March 10, 2016, in the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after an extended illness.
There will be no services at this time. A celebration of Jay's life will be at a later date.
Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, has been entrusted to care for Jay and his family.

Surviving are his two children, Tim (Tammy) Winders, Monticello, and Holly (Brent) Eisenman, Spring Valley, Minn.; five grandchildren; his parents, Gary and Marilyn Winders; a sister, Barb (Mike) Haeder, Cedar Rapids; a brother, Lary (Michelle) Winders, Anamosa; his special friend, Jessie Ketelsen, Marion; and his dog and best friend, Lady.
Jay Winders was born June 26, 1962, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Gary and Marilyn Neuzil Winders. Jay attended Anamosa Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1980. He worked at Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids before working in construction with area contractors.
Jay had been a member of Jones County Ducks Unlimited committee for many years.
