Jasper, Joyce Elaine
Joyce Elaine Jasper, 77, of High Amana, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. A memorial service will be held at a later time. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Survivors include her son, William R. Jasper and Catherine Oehl of East Amana, and his children, Holly Jasper of North Liberty, Daniel (Anne) Jasper, and great-grandson, Theodore, of New York, and William O. Jasper of Marengo; and her other son, LaVerne (Kelcy) Jasper of Marengo, and his children, BreAnn Jasper of Marengo, RaeLynn Jasper of Marengo, and Mallory Jasper of Marengo; her brothers, Kenneth (Janet) Pilcher of Ottumwa and Robert (Caroline) Pilcher of Ottumwa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Elberta Pilcher; and her husband, William G. Jasper in 2001.
Joyce Elaine Pilcher was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Harold and Elberta (Smith) Pilcher. In December 1955, she married her husband, William G. Jasper, in Ottumwa. Together they had a woodworking business, Jasper Furniture, for 20 years. Joyce enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, word search, reading, furniture finishing, and in her youth, camping and horseback riding.
A special thinks to Mercy Medical Center (Cedar Rapids) and the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy (Hiawatha) for the staff's compassion, kindness, and excellent care they provided Joyce during her illness.
A memorial fund has been established in Joyce's name.
